Ikigai

Ikigai is the newest arrival to Hotel and Wellness Community, Amatte, in Mexico.

Ikigai is a Japanese term that blends two words: “iki” meaning “to live,” and “gai” meaning “reason,” which ultimately translates to “a reason to live.” Hotel Amatte attract their guest with high quality gastronomy, relaxation, heavenly views and the mastery of living well. They bring joy to nourishing the body, igniting the soul and enliven the mind.

The Brief

Chris, the owner of Amatte tasked me with the branding for their newest venture, Ikigai.

The head Chef plays a massive role in the marketing, and his only requests were to feature a tuna fish, and the sakura blossom in the icon.

I was able to nail the brief, by combining these two brand nouns into their icon, whilst adding an additional star to reflect the quality of the food, and encapsulating the design in two rings, to represent the rice and seaweed that holds the sushi contents together.
