Ikigai

Published May 2024

Ikigai is the newest sushi restaurant to open at the Hotel and Wellness Community, Amatte, in Mexico.

Ikigai is a Japanese term that blends two words: “iki” meaning “to live,” and “gai” meaning “reason,” which ultimately translates to “a reason to live.” Hotel Amatte attract their guest with high quality gastronomy, relaxation, heavenly views and the mastery of living well. They bring joy to nourishing the body, igniting the soul and enliven the mind.

The Concept

The head Chef plays a massive role in the marketing, and his only requests were to feature a tuna fish, and the sakura blossom in the icon.

By combining these two brand nouns into their icon, whilst adding an additional star to reflect the quality of the food, and encapsulating the design in two rings, to represent the rice and seaweed that holds the sushi contents together.

Kind words:

When I first saw the final concept, I was speechless. I even emailed Vickie saying how wonderful I thought the concept was! The whole story behind the icon blows my mind. Vickie captured every detail of what Ikigai stands for and created something so meaningful and unique. I couldn’t be happier with the results!
